District Commissioner retires at the End of December

Letter from Phil Lees

I began in the role of District Commissioner for Long Eaton nearly five years ago and in a few months I will have completed one full term in this role. I have been informed that one five year term is the current policy of the County for an individual to be able to be in this role. Therefore I have met with the Regional Commissioner and have informed her that I am happy to continue in my role as District Commissioner until someone else has been appointed. The County will conduct this process to find and appoint a new District Commissioner. If you know anyone who may be interested, please let the County Commissioner know.

The County and Regional Commissioners have congratulated the District for our achievements and contributions over the past five years. A few of the highlights for me have been St. Georges day parades, International camps, District Camps, Chief Scout award presentations and having the opportunity to see new and old groups/sections grow and develop..

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Long Eaton and District Scouting Members for the support and commitment that you have offered me during my time as District Commissioner. I firmly believe that what makes Scouting so rewarding and inspiring, is meeting the many people who volunteer their time for others and seeing what we can achieve together.

Yours in Scouting

Phil Lees District Commissioner Long Eaton

Letter from County Commissioner.

Further to Phil’s message today, I am writing to let you know that Phil is coming to the end of his appointment at the end of this year, December 2017

I would like to thank Phil for the time he has spent as District Commissioner and I wish him well with whatever he decides to do in scouting in the future.

There will be a District Commissioner search in the Autumn and over the coming months I will look to support the District in whatever way I can and will involve members of the County Team where appropriate to support the District until a new District Commissioner is appointed.

I look forward to working with you all to take the district forward. I know you will all do all you can to support scouting in Long Eaton and Derbyshire over the coming year.

If you have any questions, please do get in touch. James

James Stafford County Commissioner Derbyshire.
